A Day at Camp

This book promotes awareness of the language, dances, and culture of the Bering Straits region of Alaska.
It tells a story in the Kingikmiut dialect of Inupiaq with English subtitles on each page. The story is about two Inupiat girls and their family.
The girls learn about water safety and experience cultural activities including food gathering and traditional dancing.
The story and colorful illustrations will appeal to children of all ages and will evoke memories and discussions about the reader’s and listeners’ own cultural experiences.
