The book is written in Swedish.
Eastern Svealand has many popular skating lakes, but the details of how the lakes freeze have been relatively unknown. Several hundred skating lakes are presented in this book. Great focus is on the custom-made maps that show the freezing stage in numbered and colored zones, inflows, straits, happens, warnings and locations of complex water currents. The reader also receives suggestions for journeys with suitable starting points, attractions, rest stops and smart walking routes.
The book covers all lakes in Uppland and Sörmland as well as large parts of Västmanland and Gästrikland. Stockholm's immediate area is treated exhaustively, others in a selection.
The book's author, Mårten Ajne, has been skating for forty years and has twenty years of experience as an ice reporter and guide for Stockholm's Skridskoseglarklubb. Previously, he has written the books Stora boken om långfärdskatingsko, Vintervatten and Skrinnaren's guide to Mälaren.
As a supplement to the book, the Skridskokartan over Båven, Marvikarna and Yngern is recommended, which contains many of the lakes described.
